The main building and library of Vienna University (Universität Wien) is located at the corner of Ringstrasse and Universitätsstrasse in Vienna city centre.
Universität Wien is the largest university in Vienna and has many different buildings and venues in various parts of the city. The main historical building of Vienna University is situated in a very prestigious place in the north-western part of the inner city, bordered by Ringstrasse, Universitätsstrasse, Reichsratsstrasse, and Rathausplatz. The metro station (and tram junction) next to Vienna University building is Schottentor.
There are many hotels on all sides of Vienna University building. Best locations for 5 star hotels are Schottenring (the section of Ringstrasse behind Schottentor) and Herrengasse (next to the Imperial Palace Hofburg). Other places offer mostly 3 star and 4 star hotels, and a few budget hotels. There is a high concentration of hotels in the blocks of houses and small streets between Alser Strasse and Josefstädter Strasse, which run parallel to one another from the inner city to the west.
The metro (U-Bahn) line U2 (from Schottentor Station) provides fast direct connection to several other popular hotel areas in Vienna, including Karlsplatz (terminal station of U2 and big metro junction in the centre), Kärntner Strasse (the famous shopping and hotel street), MuseumsQuartier (Museum Quarter), or Praterstern (near Prater Park).
