Westbahnhof is a metro (U-Bahn) station in the western part of Vienna city centre, covered by two metro lines: U3 and U6. It is also one of Vienna’s most important railway stations. Westbanhof Train Station is the beginning of the so called Westbahn (West Railway), connecting Vienna with many cities in the west of Austria and other countries. Westbahnhof Station is located at the intersection of Gürtel (the circle street bypassing Vienna city centre) and Mariahilfer Strasse (the famous shopping street).
The area around Westbahnhof Station and Mariahilfer Strasse is a popular hotel location. There are several good hotels close to Westbahnhof Station and more hotels in the nearby streets. Accommodation options range from hostels and budget hotels to 4 star and 5 star hotels. Many hotels are situated in the traditional historical Viennese town houses.
Westbahnhof Station can be an ideal place to stay for many visitors of Vienna, thanks to especially the excellent public transport access. Mariahilfer Strasse, which runs from Westbahnhof to the Imperial Palace Hofburg, is another popular hotel area. Many hotels can also be found in the Inner City around Volkstheater or Stephansplatz, which are other stations on metro line U3, 3 and 5 stops from Westbahnhof Station, respectively.
