Shopping City Süd, commonly known as SCS to the locals, is situated in the south suburbs of Vienna in Vösendorf.
Shopping City Süd currently has about 330 shops and employs 4,500 people. Today it is the largest shopping centre in Austria with leaseable area of 225,800 square metres and total sales area of 270,000 square metres.
Besides the Main Mall the complex also includes a big IKEA store and a Multiplex. At Shopping City Süd you will find shops from probably all industries you can imagine. According to the official website, the key tenants include C&A, Esprit, Humanic, H&M, Ikea, Peek&Cloppenburg, Saturn, and UCI. The supermarket companies at SCS are Billa and Interspar.
3.3 million people live within one hour drive from the SCS. Besides the Viennese, customers come from faraway places including the neighbouring countries (you will meet a lot of Slovaks, Hungarians, Czechs, and also some Slovenes here).
The shopping centre was founded already in 1976 by Austrian entrepreneur Hans Dujsik. Then it was significantly expanded in 1988. The multiplex was opened in 1994. In May 2008 Shopping City Süd was overtaken by Unibail-Rodamco (a Dutch real estate investor) for 607 million euros.
