Here you can see more details about the location and hotels near Albertina Gallery.

Augustinerkirche (Augustine Church)

The tower you can see on the picture is the tower of St. Augustine Church, or Augustinerkirche. The church was built in the 14th century – together with an Augustinian cloister – and for long time it served as the parish church for the Habsburg court at the adjacent Hofburg Imperial Palace. Augustinerkirche witnessed royal weddings of many powerful rulers, including Maria Theresa (1736), Franz Joseph I (1854), and even Napoleon Bonaparte of France, who married his second wife Marie Louise of Austria here in 1810.

Albertina Gallery and Augustinerkirche are located at Albertinaplatz (Albertina Square), between the Imperial Palace Hofburg and Kärntner Strasse, and next to the back side of Vienna State Opera (Staatsoper) building.
