Wien-Praterkai Station is situated on the railway between Simmering and Erzherzog-Karl-Strasse in the eastern part of Vienna, near the south-eastern end of Handelskai and Prater Park. Besides the park, there is little to see and do near Praterkai Station and there are no hotels really close.
The hotels closest to Praterkai can be found near Stadion Station and Krieau Station on U-Bahn (metro) line U2. There are bus services along Handelskai (bus no. 77A takes you from Praterkai Station to Stadion Station).
While Stadion or Krieau are the nearest hotel locations, the number of hotels near these stations is still very limited. Much better accommodation choices are available near the other stations on line U2 which follow immediately after Krieau – Messe-Prater Station (near Messe Wien, Vienna expo centre) and Praterstern (one of the largest train stations in Vienna, near the main entrance to Prater Amusement Park). From Praterstern Station on, you are already in the city centre and all stations that follow on U2 have plenty of hotels to choose from (e.g. Taborstrasse, Schottenring, Schottentor, or Rathaus Station).
